Two people were injured and a Mulberry Grove man was killed in a two-motorcycle accident in Montgomery County Sunday. The accident occurred east of Van Burensburg on Burg Rd., north of Illinois Rt. 185.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. Sunday Montgomery County officials received a 911 call reporting the accident and that there were three people injured. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Fillmore Fire Department, ARCH Medical Services, and Hillsboro Area Ambulance Service responded.
59 year old Ricky L. Wyant, of Mulberry Grove was located deceased at the scene. Wyant was riding alone on his motorcycle. Dustin Wyant, 36, of Fillmore was operating another motorcycle with a passenger, Shalet L. Wyant, 32, also of Fillmore. They were riding next to Ricky Wyant when the accident occurred. Statements indicated that the two motorcycles met a black roll-back tow truck with orange/yellow writing pulling a vehicle. The tow truck was reportedly allegedly traveling across the center lane which caused the drivers of the motorcycles to lay down their vehicles to avoid a collision. Shalet Wyant was transported by Hillsboro Area Ambulance service to Hillsboro Area Hospital. Dustin Wyant was treated at the scene and released.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation and is seeking any information in reference to a black roll-back towing truck that was in the area of the incident.
