Council Approves Annexation

At the recent meeting of the Greenville City Council, councilmen annexed the property of Willie’s Place, owned by William Worthen, and Bond County VFW.

Both are located along South Fourth Street and want to hook onto city sewer once the current sewer project is completed.

So both places can continue to serve alcohol, the council created two Class I bar or tavern liquor licenses, granted two special use permits, and issued the licenses to Willie’s Place and the VFW.

The city plan commission recommended to the council that the annexations and liquor licenses be granted.

Councilmen approved a municipal MasterCard, with a credit limit of $5,000, for Economic Development Coordinator Bill Walker to use on official business for the city.

A speed limit of 20 miles per hour was approved for Avonlea Drive in the Green Gables Subdivision, and an ordinance was passed to prohibit parking on the west side of Ivy Lane, from Winter Avenue to Ward Street.
