Education Contract Approved

The Bond County Community Unit 2 Board of Education has approved a new two-year contract with the Greenville Educational Support Personnel Association (GESPA).

The total salary increase is one percent over the two years.

Superintendent Wes Olson said officials met with the GESPA over the course of several months and came to an agreement for two years, including a half percent increase for both years.

The pay increase is in addition to the already contracted step and lane movements on the salary schedule.

Olson said the district will pay about $48,000 more in salaries during the life of the contract. He said the support staff employees are key to the district.

Members of the GESPA accepted the contract on a vote conducted August 9. The school board unanimously approved it Monday night.

Board President Edmar Schreiber reported that negotiations are continuing with the Greenville Education Association.
