The initial phase is the installation of a lift station near the intersection of Fourth Street and Route 40.
Loellke Plumbing of Jerseyville is the lead contractor on the project, which will provide sewer service to an unserved area of the city.
Sewer lines will be placed along the east side of Fourth Street and the north side of Route 40, east of Fourth.
With sewer service almost available, Willie’s Place and the Bond County VFW have expressed an interest in annexing into the city.
Dave’s Greenlight Auto Sales has been waiting for the sewer project in order to move to a new location on South Fourth Street.
Greenville City Manager Dave Willey said the project should be completed by the end of October.
