Fatality At Fire Scene Saturday


Greenville Police officers and firefighters responded to a fire in a residential duplex at 1110 East Washington Street in Greenville Saturday at 10:59 a.m.

According to the Greenville Police Department, a caregiver for 61 year old Robert L. Soles made the 911 call when they arrived to check on Mr. Soles. The caregiver found Soles on the couch and a small fire burning in the living room.

The Mulberry Grove Fire Protection District was initially called for mutual aid, but the call was cancelled en route.

Soles was pronounced dead at the scene by Bond County Coroner Tony Brooks at 11:25 a.m. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Police indicate that foul play is not suspected. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Greenville Police and the Bond County Coroner, with assistance from the Illinois Fire Marshall.
