Harold J. Vohlken

Harold J. Vohlken, age 83 of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, passed away 12:34 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Helia Healthcare in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Noon Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will follow in German Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital in St. Louis.

Harold John, the son of John J. and Anna Leidner Vohlken Campbell, was born November 6, 1932 in Tamalco, Illinois. He grew up in Tamalco and attended the local schools. Harold served our country in the United States Army. He was over in Korea and was honorably discharged.

Harold and Louise Lude were united in marriage on December 10, 1955. They moved to Peoria, Illinois where Harold spent the next 33 years working for Caterpillar. Harold and Louise moved back to the farm in Fayette County south of Mulberry Grove, Illinois on September 1, 1985. Harold enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and mushroom hunting. He and Louise spent 3 months each winter in Florida, where they enjoyed fishing in the gulf. Louise passed away on December 7, 2014, they had enjoyed almost 60 years together.

He is survived by 2 siblings: Vera Bearden of Seeley Lake, Montana and Roy D. Vohlken of Bond County, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, wife Louise, a son in infancy John Max Vohlken, sister Ruth Langel and a brother Alvin E. Vohlken.
