In Tuesday’s Bond County Board meeting, the board authorized the Bond County Historical Society to assume leadership in planning the Bond County Bicentennial.
Bond County was officially incorporated on January 4, 1817.
John Coleman, treasurer for the Historical Society, represented the group at Tuesday’s meeting and told WGEL they would form a subcommittee that would organize the events and fundraising activities associated with the Bicentennial.

Coleman was the vice president of the Greenville Bicentennial celebration and he said several of the volunteers involved in the Greenville event will also lend their experience to help with the county Bicentennial.
