A Greenville man was injured Tuesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Illinois Rt. 127, between McDonalds and CC Food Mart in Greenville.
Seth A. Ferguson, age 25, was taken to HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and was transferred by helicopter to a larger hospital.
The driver of the Subaru Outback vehicle said she was southbound on Rt. 127, driving below the speed limit, when Ferguson ran from the east side of the highway toward the west side.
The driver said she tried to avoid hitting the pedestrian, by steering into the left turn lane, but he was too close to the vehicle.
Ferguson told police he did not recall much about the accident, except he was trying to go from McDonalds to CC Food Mart.
A witness told police he saw Ferguson try to jog across the highway when the pedestrian was struck.
Police issued a citation to Ferguson for allegedly being a pedestrian who failed to yield the right-of-way to a vehicle.
