As the Bond County Community Unit 2 school district attempts to develop a new fiscal budget, it is important to have figures regarding taxes in Bond County.

Superintendent Wes Olson said the district has received some preliminary numbers. They show the equalized assessed valuation up by about $10.2 million which could result in an increase of taxes extended by $498,500.

While more money will be coming from local and state sources, Unit 2 still has a financial crisis after deficit spending the past few years. Olson hopes finances are heading in the right direction.

The Unit 2 school board will look at a tentative new budget at Monday’s meeting. The FY16-17 budget could be approved in September.
