Bond County Connection To Derleth Case

A nationwide search continues for 39-year-old Christopher M. Derleth, his 13-year old step-daughter and her two-week-old son.

Bond County and Greenville connections have also been revealed in the case.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons filed charges on Monday against Christopher M. Derleth for aggravated kidnapping and child abduction of two minors. The alleged incident occurred Sunday in Edwardsville.

Bond County State’s Attorney Chris Bauer told WGEL that up until Saturday night, Christopher Derleth was living in Greenville. He said it was his understanding that in the past, Derleth had lived in Pocahontas and Greenville.

According to Bauer, the Madison County charges refer to a 2016 Bond County juvenile abuse case against Derleth. They allege the defendant violated an August court order that Derleth have no contact with the girl.

State’s Attorney Bauer reported that Christopher M. Derleth is currently the subject of more than one criminal investigation in Bond County.

At-large extradition arrest warrants have been issued for the arrest of Derleth, based on the Madison County charges.

Authorities issued an alert on Sunday that the three individuals were missing and it was believed they were together. They indicated the trio could possibly be going to West Virginia in a green 1997 Mercury Villager minivan with Illinois license plate W, 8, 3, 3, 2, 1, 0.
