Mary E. “Beth” Wilton

Mary E. “Beth” Wilton, age 72 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville on Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Ms. Wilton was born on October 23, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of Albert and Nancy (Howard) Stallings. She was a graduate of Carlyle High School and Lindenwood University. After completing her schooling, Ms. Wilton taught business and English at Carlyle High School from 1967-1971, at Central Community High School from 1971-2002, and as an adjunct at Kaskaskia College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, and she loved reading and learning world history.

Beth is survived by her son – David Wilton (Stephanie); her sisters – Kay DuHasek and Pat (Bill) Lewis; her good friend – Bob Wilton; her in-laws – Mike and Barb Wilton; nieces and nephews – Jenny (Katie) Hotze-Wilton, Laurie Diamond, Jonathon DuHasek, Jackie (Scott) Rader, and Mary Margaret (Rick) Hardesty; her step-children – Lori (Keith) Sheets, Scott (Jennifer) Wuebbles, and Carrie (Kevin) McCarron. Beth is also survived by her best pal, her dog Paco.

She was preceded in death by her parents – Albert and Nancy Stallings; her step-mother – Vivian “Grogie” Stallings; her mother-and father-in-law – Bob and Olive Wilton; and a husband – Jerral “Jerry” Wuebbles.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Carlyle First United Methodist Church. Rev. Dean Beals will officiate the service, and a committal service will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Zieren Funeral Home, and on Thursday morning from 8:00 – 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ms. Wilton are suggested to the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at Zieren Funeral Home.
