Mobile Home Fire

The Smithboro Fire Department was called to a mobile home fire at 12:22 AM this Saturday at 307 E. 4th St in Smithboro. The mobile home was vacant and no one had been living there for some time.

Fire officials reported that the glow of the fire could be seen from some distance due to its intensity. Greenville FPD was called in to assist with a water tanker and additional manpower to help extinguish the blaze. Fire fighters were on the scene until 2:51 AM.

The cause of the blaze is not known at this time. Fire officials told WGEL that the Fire Marshall will be at the scene Monday to begin investigation of the cause of the fire.
