The Kingsbury Park District board has entered into an agreement with Counsilman Hunsaker and Associates of St Louis to provide architectural and consultant services for a swimming pool improvement project.

The district has been awarded a state grant to cover most of the costs.

The fee for Counsilman Hunsaker’s work will be $47,500.

Sauerwein said the initial budget for the project is $890,000. The grant will cover $800,000 and the park district has already sold bonds for the local share.

The district plans to have Pat Nettemeyer of Aviston do the engineering work for the renovations and addition to the bathhouse.

The grant is from the Department of Natural Resources’ Open Space Land Acquisition and Development Program. The park district has been told the grant was included in the Illinois budget which was passed on June 30th.

The district is waiting for the grant funds to arrive.

Sauerwein said it is hoped the work at the pool can begin following the 2017 swimming season.
