Several individuals have recently entered pleas in their respective cases in Bond County Circuit Court.
A former Bond County jail correctional officer pled guilty in Bond County Circuit Court to a Class 3 felony charge of custodial sexual misconduct.
Justin M. Altenberger, age 27, of Mulberry Grove, was sentenced to 30 months’ probation. He must pay a fine and court costs of $2,500 plus a probation fee of $25 per month.
The state alleged Altenberger had sexual relations, from November 1, 2015 to January 31 of this year, with a female prisoner, while he worked for the county at the jail.
Altenberger was also the former animal control officer for the county and the City of Greenville.
Brandon Johnson, age 24, from Venice, Illinois pled guilty in Bond County Circuit Court to a Class 1 felony of unlawful possession of 15 to 100 grams of methamphetamine.
Johnson was given a 48-month probation term and was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail. The jail time was stayed until November of 2018 and will be revoked if the Johnson remains in compliance with his probation term.
Johnson must pay a fine and court costs of $3,500 plus a drug assessment of $2,000. He was ordered to reimburse Bond County $810 for court-appointed attorney fees.
The drug crime occurred on September 22.
As part of the pleas negotiations, the state dismissed a Class X felony charge against Johnson for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver.
Curtis G. Hood, age 35, of rural Sorento, pled guilty in Bond County Circuit Court to a felony theft charge.
Hood was placed on probation for 24 months.
Hood admitted to stealing a Jeep Ford Liberty vehicle on January 18. The charge was a Class 2 felony.
