Pocahontas School Sign

Pocahontas School has a new electric sign on the south side of the school building, near the main entrance.

The attractive sign is being used to inform the public about school events.

Principal Jason Rakers said the sign was a community effort, led by the school’s PTO. He said they held numerous fundraisers for two years to fund the purchase.

Many residents and organizations from throughout the Pocahontas area contributed for the marquee. A committee designed the sign.

Rakers said an active PTO is very important to a school. “A school without active parents is doomed,” he commented.

The sign cost $12,308, all paid for through fundraisers and donations.
