James Blair, age 22, of Trenton, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the April 25, 2015, early morning armed robbery of a man in Aviston.
Blair was also sentenced to a concurrent term of 15 years in prison for the crime of aggravated battery for shooting his victim and was ordered to pay that victim restitution in the sum of $17,650.
Concurrent 10 year prison sentences were imposed for two counts of attempt aggravated battery for pulling the trigger on a firearm while pointing it at two other individuals who were living in the Aviston residence at the time of the armed robbery. The court also imposed prison sentences of 3 years and 4 years, respectively, for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone) and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
The sentence was handed down at a contested sentencing hearing conducted in the Clinton County Courthouse on October 6.
The case was investigated by the Aviston Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Trenton Police Department and Illinois State Police.
