Bread Monk Coming To Mater Dei

“The Bread Monk” Fr. Dominic Garramone will be coming to Mater Dei High School in Breese on October 29 at 10am to present an entertaining and educational bread demonstration. This event is sponsored by the Clinton County Home Community Education through the Illinois Extension Office.

Father Dominic Garramone, OSB is a monk of Saint Bede Abbey in Peru IL and was the host of the PBS cooking show “Breaking Bread with Father Dominic” from 1999 to 2001, and has written seven cookbooks. He also recently launched an online baking class called “Bake Your Best” at craftsy.com.

Fr. Dom (as he is affectionately known by his students) will be presenting a program on “Pre-Christmas Holiday Baking” including an Irish Halloween Bread called “Barm Brack”, traditional New England “Election Day Cake”, and gluten-free pumpkin scones with cream cheese filling for Thanksgiving.

Proceeds from the event will be used to benefit community projects for the Clinton County HCE.
