The City of Greenville’s fall leaf vacuuming program begins next week.

Bill Grider, public works director, said the same schedule is being used this year and the plan is for two vacuum units to be in operation on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting October 17.

Grider said residents need to have leaves raked to the road, but not actually in the ditch, curb, or gutter. Make sure there are no sticks in your leaf piles.

Leaves will be vacuumed through December 16, weather permitting.

Leaves can also be bagged and placed out for collection. The city will pick them up as the schedule permits. Since the leaves go to the compost pile, Grider asks that citizens use paper bags for leaves.
