The Greenville Plan Commission met last week to consider requests from Dover Development LLC to obtain a conditional use permit to build an assisted living and memory care facility on property east of the Greenville Fire Protection District firehouse along Harris Avenue.

Commission members voted 4 to 0 to add assisted living services as a conditional use in a city commercial zoning district and issued the conditional use permit to Dover Development.

Greenville City Manager Dave Willey said the change is not an issue of the building or its contents. The request being made is that the city adds the assisted living services as a conditional use in the commercial general zone. All adjacent landowners have been notified.

Willey said the city has yet to be presented building plans for the facility. No specific timetable for the project has been announced.

In the original news release, it was indicated the 22-bed building, to be known as Cedarhurst Assisted Living and Memory Care, should be completed in the spring of next year.
