While fire prevention week is for everyone, local fire departments visit schools to talk to students about what to do if their homes catch fire.
Greenville firemen have been at the Greenville Elementary School.
Firefighter Mike Waugh spoke to the youngsters, telling them if a smoke alarm goes off, you get out of the house, you stay out, and don’t go back inside for anything. He reminds kids to stay low on their way out, to have a meeting place to gather once they’re out, and to have a grown up call 911 once they’re outside.
