Good News On Insurance, Bad On Budget

Employee insurance was a topic of discussion at Tuesday’s Bond County Board meeting. Board Chairman Howard Elmore reported that the cost of employee health insurance to the county will remain mostly steady. The difference will be $200 less than the previous year. No action was taken on insurance renewal.

The county is in the beginning stages of the budget process. County Clerk Randy Reitz said the county is currently expected to see a decrease in revenue exceeding $119,000 and an increase in expenses of more than $118,000, creating a deficit for the county of approximately $240,000. The board will begin working with office holders in an attempt to close that gap.
