Opportunity To Help Fund Unit 2 Projects

Recipients of last year's classroom grants funded by the Academic Foundation

The Bond County Unit 2 Academic Foundation is preparing to review teacher grant applications for the current school year.

Teachers are invited to apply for Academic Foundation grants each year, requesting money for projects and equipment purchases the Unit 2 School District is unable to fund through their budget. A committee reviews all applications and selects a number of projects to fund in the fall. Past grants have been used to fund purchases such as crayons, flash cards, books, computers and electronic equipment, rocket kits, and musical instruments.

Numerous requests have been received for 2016-2017 projects in K-12 classrooms in Greenville, Pocahontas, and Sorento schools. Requested amounts range from $75 to $6,000.

The foundation’s Teacher Grant Committee will review the applications and award as many grants as possible. Individuals, groups, and businesses are also welcome to fully or partially fund grant requests.
