HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville and Bond County Community Unit 2 have entered into an agreement to provide an athletic trainer for all athletes in the school district.
The cost to the district is $15,000, to be paid in monthly installments. The hospital will cover the remaining costs for salary and benefits of the trainer.
Under the agreement, the district will promote the hospital as the official provider of athletic training services for the schools.
The trainer had been provided by St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, but Unit 2 received notice it was being discontinued.
Brandon Kircher, a Unit 2 high school graduate, remains the athletic trainer.
The Unit 2 board approved an agreement for students to attend classes at the Okaw Area Vocational Center in Vandalia during the 2017-18 school year.
Classes are offered in a variety of areas including auto mechanics, health occupations, welding, electronics, and building trades.
There are 16 Unit 2 students attending OKAW classes this semester.
The school board approved the district’s bullying policy for another two years.
The policy was reviewed last spring by a committee of administrators, teachers and parents, with no changes made.
The Greenville FFA has been granted permission to attend the national FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky October 18 through 22.
FFA Advisor Steve Zimmerman, alumni members and parents will serve as chaperones.
