St. Louis trumpet player Jeffrey Strong, formerly of the President’s Own Marine Band, will lead a St. Louis Symphony Brass Quintet – Karin Bliznik, trumpet; Julie Thayer, horn; Amanda Stewart, trombone, and Gerry Pagano, bass trombone – in a program that honors our nation’s veterans with music from the Revolutionary, Civil, Great and Second World Wars. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11 in the Whitlock Music Center on the campus of Greenville College (at the corner of E. College Ave. and N. Elm St., Greenville, IL). The concert is free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will last about an hour.
Prior to the concert, STL Symphony musicians will conduct masterclasses with Greenville College music students and area junior high and high school students from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Whitlock Music Center. Masterclasses are open to public observation.
Both the masterclasses and the concert are provided by the STL Symphony Community Partnership program known as Symphony In Your College.
