Guilty To Smuggling Marijuana

Last week a former inmate at the Greenville FCI was sentenced for possession of marijuana while a prisoner at the institution. On Tuesday, the man who smuggled the drug into the prison, 34 year old Ricky J. McGee, of East St. Louis, pled guilty to Providing Contraband to a Federal Inmate and Making a False Representation to the Bureau of Prisons. McGee faces a prison term of up to five years. Sentencing is scheduled for March 1.

On May 8 an officer noticed McGee pass a bag of Doritos to an inmate in the visiting room at the prison. The bag contained eight small balloons of marijuana. The inmate was placed in a dry cell and an additional two balloons of marijuana were recovered.
