KC Instrumental Concert


The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present its Holiday Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:30 PM in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands, under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan, and the KC Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Suzie Bjork, performing seasonal favorites.

Concert Band Highlights Include:

“And The Mountain Echoed: Gloria!” by Robert Longfield, “Whisper To Their Souls”(Based on Greensleeves) by Samuel Hazo, Robert W. Smith’s “Herald The Holidays”, “Gaudete” by Brian Beck, “Gloria” by Randol Alan Bass and “The Saint’s Hallelujah” adapted for band by Calvin Custer.

Jazz Band Highlights Include:

“Days Of Wine and Roses” arranged by Dave Barduhn, “Angels We Have Heard On High” arranged by Rich DeRosa, Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” arranged by John LaBarbera, a trombone section feature “Our Love is Here to Stay” arranged by Dean Mounts, and “Greensleeves” arranged by Greg Yasinitsky.

In addition, the Jazz Band will perform “Hotta Chocolatta” as recorded by Ella Fitzgerald which features Professor Lynda Marshall as vocal soloist.

A reception for patrons and performers will immediately follow the concert. The reception is made possible by members of the Jim Beasley Veteran’s Tribute Committee. The concert is free and open to the public.
