Lady Comets Basketball

A fourth quarter rally propelled the Greenville Lady Comets basketball team to a victory in their first game of the season.

The GHS girls beat Waterloo 52 to 47 Tuesday night in the first round of the Columbia Tip-Off Classic.

The Lady Comets trailed 13 to 4 after one quarter, 21 to 18 at halftime and 33 to 27 through three quarters. They outscored Waterloo 25 to 14 in the last quarter.

Coach Kolin Dothager said he’s happy to have a win for the first game of the season.

Taylor Snow was leading scorer for Greenville with 19 points, 10 of them in the fourth quarter. Ally Cantrill scored seven points in the fourth and finished with 12.

In addition to her 11 points, Fritzsche was top rebounder with seven.

The Lady Comets play Lebanon Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Columbia in the second round of the tournament, which concludes Saturday. The third place game is at 1 p.m. with the championship game about 2:30.
