Operation Christmas Child

The annual Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Program has started again in Bond County.

Sally Bolen, local coordinator from the Greenville First Christian Church, said the program led by Samaritan’s Purse, is designed to brighten the day of children, in other parts of the world, at Christmas time, particularly those in war-torn and distressed countries or areas where they have not heard the gospel message. This is estimated to be the 13th year for the local program.

It’s suggested to add a larger gift, such as a doll, deflated soccer ball with an air pump, stuffed animals, clothes, or shoes. A note and photo of the sender can also be included.

Shoeboxes are being collected now through November 20 at Greenville First Christian Church.

For more information, call the church at 618-664-0350.
