The Greenville Comets grabbed their first win of the basketball season Saturday afternoon in the Kaskaskian Classic at Carlyle.
Playing Flora in the seventh place game, the Comets rolled to a 61 to 31 victory.
GHS led 10 to 4 after one quarter, but fell behind during the second quarter. By halftime, the Comets held a 25 to 15 margin.
It was a 52 to 23 Comets’ lead after three quarters. They led by as many as 35 points in the fourth frame before settling for a 30-point win.
Three Comets scored in double figures. Brock Nelson and Lucas Carlson had 11 points each, and Ryan Hutchinson posted 10.
The Comets are now 1 and 3 for the season. Their next game is at home Friday night against Staunton. It will be broadcast on WGEL.
