The Greenville Lady Comets held on Tuesday night for a 47 to 44 win over Carlyle on the GHS court.
The Lady Comets led 12 to 9 after one quarter, 26 to 19 at halftime and 39 to 32 after three frames. They expanded their lead to 12 points during the fourth quarter, but Carlyle battled back to within one point with 48 seconds remaining.
With five seconds left, the Lady Comets’ Madison Gerdes took a charging foul to give the ball back to Greenville. Taylor Snow sank two free throws with less than a second left for the final three-point margin of victory.
GHS was 10 of 14 at the line for the game. Snow and Ally Cantrill led the offense with 16 points apiece.
The Lady Comets are now 5 and 3 for the season. They will host Hillsboro Monday night in a South Central Conference game.
The Lady Comets JV team also won Tuesday, beating Carlyle 49-23. Nancy Fritzsche scored 9 points and Hannah Williams 8 points. The JV team is 5-0 for the season.
