Senior Center Debt Paid

Darryl Bolen shared some happy news with the crowd at Saturday's reception at the Bond County Senior Center

At a reception Saturday afternoon, to honor retiring Bond County Senior Center Director Anna Oestreich, Darryl Bolen, member of the senior center board, made an important announcement.

He told the large audience the center’s $700,000 debt would be paid off as of Monday morning.

The debt was for the addition of the Frank and Susan Watson Community Building, to expand the senior center at 1001 East Harris Avenue in Greenville.

Several local and state officials attended Saturday’s reception.

Illinois State Representative John Cavaletto said when he was gerrymandered into this district, his team discovered $200,000, originally proposed by Representative Ron Stephens, to help with the new senior center.

Ground was broken for the addition in June of 2014. Saturday’s reception was held in the center’s community building.
