January 13 was the final day of work for Denny Wise at the City of Greenville.
Wise wrapped up a 35-year career with the city’s public works department.
A reception was held for him with his fellow workers, family members and city officials in attendance.
City Manager Dave Willey said Wise was a very valuable employee, contributing to the city in many ways.

Ironically, the reception was held while ice pellets began to fall outside. Wise spent a lot of time over the years, clearing streets of snow and ice. He remembered those days when the department didn’t have shifts for street clearing. He said sometimes they worked 24 hours a day and took naps where they could.
