Live music will be provided at the Gala by Taylor Steele and Shane Danosky following the dinner and auction.

Money raised through the Light the Way Gala will be used by the Bond County Unit 2 Academic Foundation to fund teacher grants for classroom projects in Greenville, Pocahontas, and Sorento Schools.

Teachers are invited to apply for Academic Foundation grants each school year, requesting money for projects and equipment purchases the Unit 2 School District is unable to fund through their budget. A committee reviews all applications and selects a number of projects to fund in the fall. In 2016, the Academic Foundation awarded 24 grants to Unit 2 teachers, totaling nearly $20,000.

The second annual Light the Way Gala is sponsored in part by Bradford National Bank, Greenville College, the Greenville Optimist Club, Frank and Susan Watson, and First National Bank.

Additional sponsorship opportunities exist. To find out more, call Valerie Klenke at 618-367-5637.

Tickets to the event are $50, or $75 per couple. They can be purchased at Watson’s Health Mart Drug Store or the Unit 2 District Office. Saturday, March 11 is the last day to purchase tickets.
