A small and surprisingly strong thunderstorm moved through the WGEL listening area late Friday afternoon. There were no warnings or watches issued by the National Weather Service, but in addition to strong wind and heavy rain, we received reports of small hail in some areas.
A large portion of a tree on the grounds of the Greenville Public Library was knocked down in the storm. The tree fell across Fourth Street, completely blocking the roadway to traffic.
Due east of that tree, another tree between the Greenville Post Office and Watson’s Health Mart Drug store was snapped.
A tree was broken on the Nevco grounds, across Harris Avenue from Capri IGA in Greenville.
This tree in the Wheatfield Farms Subdivision in Greenville lost a large limb Friday.
