The Greenville Comets split two games Saturday in the Robert “Ish” Smith Baseball Classic.
They lost to Nashville, 4 to 2 in 9 innings, and beat Flora 9 to 1.
Smith tossed the ceremonial first pitch to open the event.
The Comets will host Staunton Tuesday and play at home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Vandalia in the semifinals of the Greenville Class 2A Regional. The regional title game is Saturday at 11 a.m. in Greenville.
