Gilda Schlenker, 93, of Greenville, Illinois, formerly of Centralia, Illinois died at 7:50 am, May 20, 2017 at HSHS Holy Family Hospital, in Greenville.
Mrs. Schlenker, the daughter of Francesco Giovanni Antonio DeBoni and Michelina Guiseppina DellaBetta of Fonzaso Beluno Italy, was born November 15, 1923 in Johnston City, Illinois. She was a wife, mother, and a homemaker.
She married Raymond Vernon Schlenker on June 14, 1941 in Jackson, Missouri. Survivors include one daughter, Veronica Ross (Stephen), of Greenville; two grandsons, Christopher Ross of Elkhart, Indiana and Corey Ross (Patty) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and three great-grandchildren, Alexa, Andrew, and Aiden Ross of Elkhart. In addition, she has three foster great-grandchildren in Sioux Falls and numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Midwest.
Mrs. Schlenker was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gian and Gino; four sisters, Maria Luiga, Gilda, Dora, and Olga; and her husband, who passed away in 1994.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 25, at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Father Paul of St. Lawrence Church, officiating. A luncheon will be held at the First Baptist Church of Greenville, at 12 noon. A 3:00 pm Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, in Centralia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church of Greenville. These may be received at Donnell-Wiegand.
