At the Monday Mulberry Grove Board of Education meeting, Dianne Neathery was appointed to fill the vacant seat on the board.
In the financial report, Superintendent Brad Turner said the Illinois Comptroller said schools will likely not get another categorical state aid payment this school year. The Mulberry Grove district received one categorical state aid payment at the end of April. The state still owes the district three payments totaling about $225,000.00. Categorical state aid payments are for transportation and special education expenses. Turner said general state aid payments continue to arrive on time.
An HVAC unit on the elementary school needs repairs or replacement. Bob Culbertson of Vandalia presented options of repairing the current unit or replacing it. The board tabled action on the issue pending collection of information.
Following a closed session, the board accepted resignations from Title I Aid Virginia Paine and Junior High-High School English Teacher Lindsey Beckham effective at the end of the current school year. The board hired Rachel Miller Junior High-High School English Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.
