Nancy Lou Dykstra

Nancy Lou Dykstra, 68, of rural Sandoval, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Nancy was born December 14, 1948 the daughter of Wilbert “Wib” and Mary Lou (Simonton) Steinkamp in Breese, Illinois. She married David Brandt and they later divorced. She later married Van A. Dykstra on April 4, 1981 at the Free Methodist Church in Centralia. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2016.

Nancy is survived by her adoring children, Derrick Brandt and wife Roseann, Dujuana Morris and husband Stephen; Scott Dykstra and wife Brandy; daughter-in-law Jamie Brandt all of rural Sandoval,IL; cherished brothers, Rick Steinkamp and wife Lesa of Posey, IL, Randy Steinkamp and wife Michelle of Michigan; special friends, Mary Ann Lutz and special friend Jim Peterson of Centralia, IL, Jim Lutz of Nashville, IL; her precious grandchildren, Dori Brandt, Sophie Brandt both of rural Sandoval, IL, Zach Brandt of Oakdale, IL, Austin Brandt and Macie Brandt of Salem, IL, Eric Brubaker and Kailey Brubaker of rural Sandoval, IL, Staff Sgt. Cassandra Morris and fianc� Staff Sgt. Dean Saunders of Phoenix, AZ, Collin Morris and special friend Kayla Spicer, Carley Morris and special friend Harley Roper, Adison Black, Ciara Koch and husband Ben Koch of Missouri, Jonathan Dykstra, Brianna Rachilla, Bailee Dykstra, and Lilli Dykstra all of rural Sandoval, IL; cherished loved one, Jeri Carpenter.

In addition to being preceded in death by her loving husband, Van Dykstra; she was preceded in death by both of her parents, Wilbert and Mary Lou Steinkamp; son Darin Brandt; and special friends, Harold and Pauline Lutz.

Nancy grew up in Posey and then moved to rural Sandoval in 1981. She worked for 32 years at Littel Fuse in Centralia as a Chemical Wire Tritationist. She was also involved with Illinois Real Estate Services of Salem and Centralia. She is member of Patoka United Methodist Church where she served on the P.P.R. Board, District Board Member of the Church Cluster, Chair Person for funeral lunches. She is a former member of the Free Methodist Church in Centralia. She is a member of the Southern Illinois Antique Power Club, Marion County Soil and Water Conservation, Marion County Republican Committee, and former President of the Sandoval Women’s Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends over the years. Nancy treasured her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and friends, and will be remembered for her storytelling.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Patoka United Methodist Church in Patoka with Rev. Rick Atchley and Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at McClelland Andereck Cemetery in Sandoval, IL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Patoka United Methodist Church in Patoka. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Southern Illinois Networking Association “SINA”, Patoka Methodist Church Building Fund, or United Methodist Women.
