The Bond County Community Unit 2 school board is partnering with the Comets Sports Boosters Club on a project.
Plans are to erect a building on the site of the Tom Doll Soccer Field. It would include two restrooms and an area for storage.
The Booster Club has committed $10,000 to the project. The board passed a motion to provide up to $10,000. Superintendent Wes Olson said the district’s share could come from the facilities sales tax.
Only a port-a-pot is now available at the field. The restrooms would be north of the concession/announcer building.
In the near future, the City of Greenville is planning to install a sewer line along Idler Lane which will allow the project to proceed.
In another board item, permission was given to the high school band and chorus to perform at Walt Disney World in Florida April 18 through 22 in 2018. Plans are for the students and chaperones to fly to Orlando, rather than take a bus, on the trip.
A kitchenette is being added at the student services building, to be utilized by the Project Parenting Program to help families learn life skills. Grant money will be used to cover the $10,790 cost.
The board approved overnight trips for the high school boys’ basketball team to Springfield on June 29 and to Pinckneyville over the Christmas holiday, the high school girls’ basketball team to Nashville, Tennessee on June 15 and 16, the high school football team to Jacksonville on July 25 and 26, and the high school FFA to Springfield on June 13 and 14.
