Personnel items were handled by the Bond County Community Unit 2 school board Monday night.
Tricia Gray was hired as a Spanish teacher at the high school, and the resignations of Alex Carie as Sorento girls’ basketball coach and Leonisa Grider and Donna Sloan as food service employees, plus the retirement of Marci Slape as a teacher at Pocahontas School were accepted. Slape’s retirement is effective the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
The board granted 33 additional sick leave days to Nancy Volkmar upon her retirement at the end of next school year.
Hired as teachers for high school summer school were Catherine Free for English, Anne Burton for mathematics, Alison Hall for driver’s education classroom, and Joe Alstat, Todd Cantrill, Todd Hutchinson and Katie Perkins for driver’s education driving.
Tim Kelly and Chea Reeves were hired as special education aides for next school year, and James and Mike Wilhite were hired to assist with summer maintenance and grounds work.
Terry Swalley was selected as the new girls’ basketball coach at Sorento School.
