4-H Shooting Sports Gaining Speed

Clinton County 4-H is proud to be adding the 4-H Shooting Sports program this year. All 4-H shooting sports clubs must be led by adults who have completed the training and passed the certification test. Thanks to local volunteer’s participation in recent trainings, Clinton County now has 4-H shooting sports instructors. Craig Busher is certified in archery, Mike Claypool is certified in Pistol and Pete Cinotto is certified in Air Rifle.

Two of the things that a 4-H shooting sports program needs in order to get started are volunteers, and equipment. Thanks to generous donations from Quail Forever Silver Creek IL Chapter #3129, Aviston Gun Club, Highland Pistol Club, and Don’s Gun Shop the equipment for the shooting sports program has been ordered. This means the club will be able to get up and going with their new volunteers and their new equipment later this month.

In addition to participating in 4-H shooting sports clubs locally, members will have the opportunity to compete in state level 4-H shooting sports contests. At the state competitions, older members strive for a spot on the National Competition team. For more information, call the Cheryl at the Clinton County Extension Office 618-526-4551.
