4-H Show Season Begins June 17

The Bond County 4-H Dog and Cat Show will be June 17 at 9 a.m. at the Bond County Fairgrounds in Greenville. Members from clubs all across the county will gather for judging of dog obedience, dog care and cat care. Several members have been taking a 4-H dog obedience this spring taught by Bev Leidner of Fantasy Kennels training and grooming.

The General Projects Show will be on July 1 at the First Christian Church in Greenville. Conference judging brings 4-H members and judges together to evaluate exhibits with one-to-one communication between the judge and exhibitor. Exhibitors have the opportunity to learn from the expert judges. Not only that, but the conference judging experience gives youth a chance to start learning the basics of participating in an interview, which will be a useful life skill down the road.

4-H livestock shows are in early August in conjunction with the Bond County Fair. For more information about the Bond County 4-H program, call the University of Illinois Extension Office at 618-664-3665.
