Anton H. “Tony” Hundsdorfer

Anton H. “Tony” Hundsdorfer, 79, of Highland, Illinois, died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, Illinois.

Tony was born February 20, 1938, to Cletus and Elsie (nee Carrillon) Hundsdorfer in Highland, IL. On December 26, 1960, he married Sandra Kay Holcombe at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

He graduated from Highland High School in 1956 and enlisted in the Army Reserves. He was employed by his father making modern sheet metal and earned an Associate Degree from SIU as a Manufacturer Engineer. He retired in Feb 2004 from Crane Defense Systems after 29 years.

He was a member of the JC’s, Pistol and Rifle Club, Country Club, New Switzerland Model Railroad Club, Lions International, St. Paul Cursillo, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, and Highland Community Chorus.

He was an avid golfer, loved music and singing, He never knew a stranger and always had a great smile. He loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He spent many hours working with trains, was a talented craftsman—making crosses out of nails. He also loved to be on the lake in Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Hundsdorfer, Highland, IL; Son, Brian Anton (Malee) Hundsdorfer, Cedar Park, TX; Daughter-in-Law, Mary Hundsdorfer, Grandchildren, Braden Thomas Hundsdorfer, Kristen Lee Hundsdorfer, Holly Michelle Hundsdorfer; Sister, Marion Marie Kesner; Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus Anton and Elsie Hundsdorfer; Son, Douglas Robert Hundsdorfer (July 2016).

Memorials may be made to the University of Missouri (Dept of Veterinary Oncology Support Fund) or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation: Thursday, June 29, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL, and Friday, June 30, 2017, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, June 30, 2017, 11:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.

Clergy: Rev. Fr. Pat Jakel, Pastor.

Interment: Highland City Cemetery.
