Breese Man Dies From Heat Stroke

Heat stroke claimed the life of a Breese man Tuesday afternoon, June 13.

The Washington County Coroner’s office was called to the Emergency Room at Washington County Hospital Emergency Tuesday at 2:46 PM where 41 year old Todd Haas, age 41, of Breese, was pronounced dead.

Hass was an employee of a basement concrete finishing company that was working at a construction site on Reservoir Road in Nashville. Haas became very ill while working at the site and was transported to Washington County Hospital by a coworker. Haas was unresponsive when he arrived at the hospital and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Officials visited the construction site where a forensic thermometer was used to obtain the environmental temperatures. The Washington County Coroner reports that temperatures in the concrete basement area were 104.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The Occupational Safety Health Administration was contacted by the coroner’s office.

OSHA, the Nashville Police Department, and the Washington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the death.
