Sorento Principal Bill Carpenter will officially retire on June 30.
Carpenter has spent 35 years in education including the last 11 in Bond County Community Unit 2. He is proud to have been principal at Sorento School. He told WGEL the last 11 years has been the best part of his career.

Obviously, a big highlight during his time at Sorento was the 2011 National Blue Ribbon School Award from the U.S. Department of Education.

Bill Carpenter said he has no immediate plans after retirement, except he and his wife will be able to do some traveling.
Kara Harris will take over as Sorento Principal on July 1.
