Cavaletto School Funding

Representative John Cavaletto

John Cavaletto, state representative in the 107th District, is not pleased with the school funding legislation that has been forwarded by the Illinois General Assembly to Governor Bruce Rauner.

Senate Bill 1 passed with the minimum number of votes necessary. Cavaletto, a member of the Cost Benefit Analysis Committee, voted against it.

Cavaletto believes school boards need more control of their districts.

The state legislator said last minute changes to the bill bail out Chicago schools and short-change students in his legislative district.

Cavaletto said the school funding reform proposal requires $350 million in new money even though the state cannot afford to pay schools for current year programs.
