GHS Music Teacher

At a special meeting of the Bond County Unit 2 school board Monday evening, a new high school music teacher was hired.

Megan McPeak of Greenville was unanimously approved by the five board members in attendance.

She has been teaching music the past 16 years in the Ramsey school district, doing band and chorus at all levels.

In Unit 2, McPeak will teach band and chorus, early bird choir, and after-school band at the high school. She will also direct the marching band at GHS and teach beginning band at Greenville Elementary School. It is a full-time position.

Ryan Thomason will be the full-time band and chorus teacher at the Pocahontas and Sorento centers. He was previously doing band at the high school, Pocahontas and Sorento, in addition to GES.

The Greenville Jr. High band and chorus job opened up at the end of the past school year when the teacher resigned. Shawn Cox, who has been involved with chorus in other Unit 2 music departments, expressed an interest in that position, and the district transferred him to junior high band and chorus.
