The Bond County Area received some much-needed rain Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Local farmer and Farm Bureau board member Frank Doll told WGEL on Thursday that the precipitation qualified as a “million dollar rain”. He said farmers like to drive around and check their crops and it was becoming an “ugly experience” the last week or so.

Doll said while the rain was definitely a benefit, it won’t be long before more will be needed. He said farmers in southern Illinois are always seven to ten days away from a drought.

The National Weather Service is calling for a 20 to 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms every day and night through Sunday evening.
