State Baseball Tournament


The state baseball champions in Illinois Class 1A and 2A had Greenville connections on their way to their titles.

In Class 1A, the Valmeyer Pirates claimed the state championship, beating Peoria Heights, 4 to 2, in the final game.

Valmeyer won the sectional, which was held at Greenville College’s Robert Smith Field in Greenville. The Pirates ended with a 28 and 10 record.

Teutopolis won the Class 2A state championship, 10 to 2, over St. Joseph-Ogden. The Wooden Shoes had a 31 and 6 season.

T-Town opened post-season play by winning the Greenville High School regional. The team’s coach, Justin Fleener, is a former player and graduate of Greenville University.
