Earthquake SW Of Vandalia

If you thought you “felt a little something” Saturday afternoon, you were right. The US Geological Survey reports a 3.1 magnitude earthquake Saturday at 1:07 PM. The quake occurred just less than 10 miles southwest of Vandalia at a depth of 17.9 kilometers.

Neither the Vandalia Police nor Fayette County Sheriff’s Department report any calls concerning the earthquake. WGEL listeners on Facebook reported feeling the quake between Mulberry Grove and Keyesport, in Greenville, and in rural Greenville. Just as many people from Greenville and Vandalia told us they didn’t feel anything.
